Decorative Concrete Overlays, Resurface Without Tearing Out
A decorative concrete overlay is a thin layer of specially formulated polymer material applied over existing concrete to restore, refresh, or transform the surface. Bricks-n-Stones uses overlays to give old patios, walkways, pool decks, and driveways a new look, often at a fraction of the cost of tear-out and replacement.
Where Overlays Make Sense
Overlays are a good fit when the underlying concrete is structurally sound but cosmetically tired, spalling, has surface cracks, dated stamped patterns, or is just a plain grey slab that needs a refresh. Common applications include patios, front walks, driveways and pool decks where slip-resistance is critical.
We offer several decorative finishes: stenciled overlays that mimic flagstone, brick, and tile; broom and trowel textures for clean modern looks; and integrally colored finishes that blend with existing landscaping or architectural detail. Each overlay system is selected based on the substrate, the climate exposure, and the look you are wanting to achieve.
Durability and Performance
Modern polymer-modified overlays bond mechanically and chemically to the prepared substrate, and once cured they resist freeze-thaw cycling, UV exposure, road salts, and pool chemicals. Properly sealed, with simple maintenance our overlay will hold its color and texture for years. On average our pool deck overlays are 10-15 degrees cooler and are slip resistant.
Because we are doing decorative work on top of existing concrete, surface preparation is the most important step in the job. We diagnose the underlying slab for movement, moisture issues, and bond strength before specifying an overlay system. Skipping that step is the number one reason cheap overlay jobs fail; getting it right is the reason ours hold up.
